Our History
Don Carter, Tom Sloope, and Mark Gatlin spent nearly a decade working together at a growing consulting engineering firm. “Many of the clients we served during that time were too small to support large firms who focused on large communities with large projects,” Mr. Sloope explained. “We recognized the dilemma these communities were faced with, and our solution was to found Carter & Sloope.”
In 1990, Mr. Carter, Mr. Sloope, and Mr. Gatlin founded C&S with a distinct vision: that the engineer would develop the work and a working relationship with the client, as well as an understanding of the community and its needs. “We wanted to provide tailored engineering solutions to a group of clients we enjoyed being around. After several decades, I think the concept still works.”
